No, you do not have to use insurance. Paying for Brightside directly with your card (credit, debit, or HSA/FSA) is always an option. Our self-pay cost is $299 for Teen Therapy, and $349 for Teen Therapy + Psychiatry.

As the parent or guardian of your teen, you have an important supportive role in their care at home. You will need to attend the first sessions with your teen to meet their expert provider. After that, you are welcome to join for updates as needed.

You are able to provide consent during the sign-up process. We also collect verbal consent from you directly, at your teen’s first session.

Brightside Health and its associated platform is HIPAA compliant and follows all HIPAA requirements including, but not limited to, the Privacy Rule. We encrypt data in transit and at rest. All communication with our software is done using signatures with a cryptographic hash algorithm. As well, all information is encrypted at rest once stored on our servers.

Yes, recent studies show that not only is online therapy effective for teens, it is often their preferred way to receive care. At Brightside, our expert providers know how to connect and build rapport with your teen through screens—using effective, proven approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy. Growing up with technology, teens often find online therapy to be more comfortable and convenient. They can have sessions from home, or even on the go between practices and activities. And there’s no need to commute or drive.
