Biography

"Michelle Merritt is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with nearly 20 years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, trauma, addiction, compulsive behaviors, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. She earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and later completed a doctorate at Westbrook University. Michelle has devoted her career to mental health after beginning her professional path as a child and family advocate, where she recognized the profound impact emotional experiences and family dynamics have on overall well-being.

Michelle’s therapeutic style is compassionate, engaging, and deeply person-centered, combining psychodynamic psychotherapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and emotionally focused interventions. She helps clients uncover patterns that may be holding them back, develop healthier coping skills, and build the insight needed to create lasting change. Believing therapy works best as a collaborative process, Michelle meets clients at their own pace while fostering self-reflection, resilience, and empowerment. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys walking in parks, spending time with her dogs, reading, exploring history, and seeking out new experiences that broaden her perspective."
