Michele specializes in working with adults so that they may become their healthiest, best, and most authentic selves. Her eclectic therapeutic style includes the utilization of Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused approaches as well as Mindfulness-based techniques to engage her clients. She collaborates closely with her clients to help them cope with life transitions, work stressors, and interpersonal relationship issues. Building upon her knowledge of work with adolescents and children, she has special insight into how childhood attachment issues can impact adults presently. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Michele is very sensitive to cultural and societal expectations and their internalization on the individual. In every session, her aim is to provide a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where her clients can freely explore and share their story. Essentially, she believes this will create a therapeutic alliance that will foster positive change, growth, and the ability for her clients to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
I am a very hands-on therapist who challenges my clients by asking them to see their circumstances from a different perspective using cognitive restructuring - a CBT strategy. Cognitive restructuring can be so effective becuase it essentially shifts your negative thinking patterns to more logical, rather than emotion-based, thinking. Using this approach, you can combat your anxiety or symptoms that may be impairing your mood and functioning.
Since I am so solution-focused, my brain is always geared toward finding solutions to my clients' problems, which has been helpful for treatment outcomes. My 10+ years of experience as a professional psychotherapist working with all ages and presenting problems helps me to be an informed clinician.
I love all music, writing, art, flowers, the color blue, the ocean, the NY Knicks, women's basketball, sports in general, hiking, Broadway shows, music concerts, and playing the guitar.
