Biography

Alexia Marie Smith is a board-certified Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with more than 25 years of experience in the mental health field, including over 13 years practicing as an advanced psychiatric nurse practitioner. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati and has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to individuals across the lifespan. Alexia works with patients of all ages and has experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and other complex psychiatric presentations.

Throughout her career, Alexia has practiced in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinics, community mental health programs, psychiatric urgent care, and private practice. Her broad clinical background allows her to provide thoughtful medication management and individualized treatment planning tailored to each patient’s needs. Licensed in Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Washington State, she emphasizes collaborative, patient-centered care and strives to create a supportive environment where individuals feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment.

Alexia believes that listening is one of the most important steps in helping individuals and families move toward improved mental health and well-being. She focuses on building strong therapeutic relationships that encourage open communication, trust, and engagement in the treatment process. Outside of her professional work, Alexia enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters and appreciates experiencing all four seasons in Michigan.
